Controversies | Verbal exchange with Virat Kohli He was playing in an ODI match against India in January 2022 and hit a shot where the Indian cricketer Virat Kohli was fielding. Kohli picked up the ball and threw it in anger towards the Indian wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant. Bavuma did not like Kohli's temperament and had a verbal spat with him following which many fans praised Bavuma and crictised Kohli's antics in the field. Napping during Captain's Day Before the 2023 ODI World Cup, the captain's day event was organised on 4 October 2023 during which Temba Bavuma was seen sleeping with his head hanging down. Many fans speculated that the event was boring due to which Bavuma slept; however, he later tweeted that the misconception happened due to the camera angle, and he was not sleeping.
