Ollie Robinson Facts
He had started his domestic cricket career with Kent County Cricket Club‘s 2nd XI. However, after just one match in the 2013 season, he had left for Leicestershire County Cricket Club before playing for Yorkshire County Cricket Club 2nd XI. He had finished the 2013 season with 59 wickets and 1,282 runs in 2nd XI cricket.
In October 2013, he had signed a professional contract with Yorkshire County Cricket Club. However, after just 7 T20 appearances for the club, during the 2014 season, he was sacked by the club on account of unprofessional conduct. Later that season, he had made one List A appearance for Hampshire County Cricket Club.
In April 2015, he had signed a short-term deal with Sussex County Cricket Club after the club had lost 3 key bowlers to injuries. A few days later, he had made his first-class debut against Durham County Cricket Club where he had scored a century in a club record-breaking 10th-wicket partnership of 164 with Matt Hobden. This had made him the first Sussex County Cricket Club player in 95 years to have scored a century on County Championship debut.
In the 2015 County Championship season, he had scalped 46 wickets at an impressive average of 24.71 and was nominated for the tournament’s ‘Breakthrough Player’ award. He was awarded the ‘Sussex Young Player of the Year’ award. In October 2015, he had signed a 3-year contract with Sussex County Cricket Club.
In April 2021, he was named the club’s vice-captain in the first-class format. Later that month, he had recorded figures of 9/78 runs in a County Championship match against Glamorgan County Cricket Club. These were the best bowling figures by an Englishman since 2016.
