Harnaam Kaur Facts
She was raised in a traditional Punjabi family.
Harnaam Kaur started her self-titled channel on September 30, 2012.
She had been diagnosed with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), at the age of 12. PCOS is caused due to an increase in androgens (male hormones) in females. Hence, the reason behind her thick facial hair.
Kaur converted to Sikhism at the age of 16.
Growing up, Harnaam would often attempt to remove her facial hair as a result of being bullied by her peers. However, she has since grown to embrace it and has now adopted a spokesperson role for the body positivity movement.
She had been suicidal in the past and had also tried to harm herself in the past.
Prior to gaining public attention in 2014, Harnaam had been working as a primary school teacher at Khalsa Primary School. After attaining a mass audience, she decided to quit her job and instead became a public figure, freelance model, and motivational speaker.
A photograph of Harnaam taken by Mr. Elbank was featured in his March 2015, exhibition at Somerset House in London. She was clicked for the Rock N Roll Bride by Louisa Coulthurst of Urban Bridesmaid Photography.
She became a spokesperson and representative of the “Eff Your Beauty Standards” campaign started by Tess Holliday in November 2015.
Kaur became the first woman to walk the ramp with a beard at the London Fashion Week in the March 2016 opening for designer Marianna Harutunian.
In September 2016, Harnaam was indited into the Guinness World Records as the youngest woman in the world with a beard measuring in at six inches [15 cm] in places.
Harnaam has named her beard Sundri.
She had once gotten a tattoo of herself on her right leg near her calf.
